Privacy Policy — FireVerse OS
Last updated: 2 October 2026
FireVerse OS is developed by Lakshminarayana Aigal. This policy explains what the add-on stores, what it sends off your device, and what it never collects.
Summary
FireVerse OS has no servers, no accounts, and no telemetry. The overwhelming majority of your data never leaves your browser.
Nothing is transmitted until you explicitly agree to it. Firefox shows a consent prompt the first time you use a feature that would send data off your device, and both features can be turned off at any time in Add-ons and Themes → FireVerse OS → Permissions and data. Declining costs you only that one feature; every other part of the add-on keeps working.
| Feature | What is sent | Where it goes | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weather widget | Your approximate latitude and longitude | api.open-meteo.com | Asked on first use |
| AI assistant | The text you type | The provider you select | Asked on first use |
| AI page actions | This page's text, or bookmark titles and URLs | The provider you select | Asked on first use |
Everything else — bookmarks, history, downloads, tabs, tasks, notes, themes, and settings — is read from Firefox and stored only on your device.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share any of the following:
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage tracking of any kind
- No advertising, no profiling, no third-party trackers, no cookies, no fingerprinting
- No data from children under 13
- No contents of pages you visit, beyond what you explicitly send to an AI provider
- No identifiers that track you across websites or applications
The add-on contains no code that reports usage to us. Lakshminarayana Aigal operates no server that receives anything from the add-on.
Data stored only on your device
Firefox's own storage APIs are used so that your data stays local:
- Bookmarks, history, and downloads — read through Firefox's
bookmarks, history, anddownloadsAPIs to render the dashboard panels. Cached in IndexedDB for display only. Never transmitted. - Notes, tasks, quick links, clipboard snippets, and widget layout — stored in IndexedDB (
FireVerseOSdatabase) and in your browser's local storage. Never transmitted. - Preferences, themes, and AI provider settings — stored via Firefox's
storage.localAPI. This includes the API key you enter for the AI assistant, which is kept locally and sent only to the provider you chose, only when you submit a message. - Recent searches and search engine choice — stored in the new tab page's local storage.
You can erase any of this at any time by clearing site data for the add-on, or by removing the add-on, which deletes all of it.
Data transmitted off your device
1. Weather widget
When you interact with the Weather widget, it calls the browser's geolocation API to obtain your coordinates and sends them to api.open-meteo.com to retrieve a forecast.
- Geolocation is requested only after you interact with the widget, never automatically on page load or install.
- The first time you use it, Firefox asks whether the add-on may collect your location. Nothing is read, cached, or sent until you agree — including coordinates saved by an earlier version, which are ignored until then.
- If you decline the consent prompt, or decline the geolocation permission, or block the browser from geolocation, the widget does not request location at all.
- You can withdraw consent at any time in Permissions and data on the add-on's page in
about:addons. Doing so stops the widget from reading or sending your location. - Coordinates are cached in local storage so the widget can refresh without asking again. You can clear them from the widget's settings.
- Open-Meteo receives the coordinates. It does not receive anything else about you, and it does not set cookies. See Open-Meteo's privacy policy.
2. AI assistant
The AI assistant is off until you configure it. When you send a message, the text you typed is sent directly from your browser to the provider you selected in Settings:
| Provider | Endpoint |
|---|---|
| OpenAI | api.openai.com |
| Google Gemini | generativelanguage.googleapis.com |
| Anthropic | api.anthropic.com |
| Groq | api.groq.com |
| Custom | Any endpoint you enter |
Key points:
- Requests use your own API key, which you enter yourself. Lakshminarayana Aigal has no access to it and does not bill, proxy, or log it.
- We operate no proxy server. Requests go from your browser straight to the provider.
- The selected provider processes your data under its own privacy policy and terms, not ours. Review them before use.
- A "local" provider option is also selectable, which does not transmit anything.
3. AI page actions
Three buttons in the AI panel act on content from your browser rather than on text you typed: Summarize page and Notes from page read the visible text of the current tab (up to the first 5,000 characters, of which up to 2,000 are sent), and Categorize sends the titles and URLs of up to 20 of your bookmarks.
- These send page content — so they are covered by their own consent prompt, separate from the plain chat prompt. Nothing is read from the tab or sent to the provider until you agree.
- If you decline, the add-on tells you nothing was sent and the rest of the AI panel keeps working.
- You can withdraw consent in Permissions and data in
about:addonsat any time. - Each button says what it will send and to which provider before you press it, and the panel displays a persistent line naming the provider whenever these actions are available.
Permissions and why they are needed
| Permission | Use |
|---|---|
bookmarks, history, downloads, tabs | Render the dashboard and sidebar panels. Read and managed locally only; never transmitted. |
storage | Save your preferences, themes, and layout on your device. |
scripting | Apply and remove the reading-mode and visual-effect styles on pages, and read the active tab when you invoke reading mode. |
contextMenus, commands | Provide the context-menu entries and keyboard shortcuts. |
notifications | Show timer alerts for the Pomodoro widget. |
alarms | Schedule the Pomodoro timer and the tab counter badge. |
<all_urls> host access | Required so the content script can run on the sites you visit, since the reading mode and visual effects apply to arbitrary pages. All effects are applied locally in a closed shadow root or a page-local style element. Nothing is read out of the page. |
| Geolocation (optional) | Used only by the Weather widget, only after you click it and agree to the consent prompt, as described above. |
Security
All add-on code ships inside the package and runs locally under a strict Content Security Policy. The add-on does not download or execute code at runtime, and contains no remote script evaluation.
Children
The add-on is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the URL above and the "Last updated" date will change. Material changes will also be noted in the add-on's release notes on addons.mozilla.org.
